We’re back from Great Barrier after a 3 day mother ship trip and the ‘big reds’ were on the bite hard!

Couple of broken rods from monster unstoppable Kingfish and 3 Snapper caught over the magic 20lb mark + literally dozens caught and released all around the 15lb mark.  Alister hit legend status, catching x2 over 20lb within 1 hour of each other – 21lb and 25lb.

Many guys experiencing the best Snapper bites of their life with every cast resulting in double figure fish and all released to fight another day. Scot caught a nice 15lb on his first drop a ‘PB’ for him. Drew slayed a nice Kingfish after getting dusted twice on larger models (footage and story to come). Jason Kemp snook in the shallows to pull out a nice 20lb Snapp. And Laurie caught many fish up to 18lb all released. It was an epic trip to say the least.

What an epic year it’s been and we would just like to thank everyone that has supported Bounty Hunter Charters. We have caught so many Snapper over the magic 20lb that I’ve lost count! The biggest buzz for us is watching happy customers catch their ‘PB’ fish.

Our mothership trips are certainly bringing in the ‘bounty’.  Day drips to Little Barrier (taking up to 12 kayaks) and overnighters to Little Barrier, Great Barrier and the Mokes (taking up to 9 kayaks).   Big congrats to Laurie on smashing this 20lb+ Snapper on a day run to Little Barrier Island today in only 3 meters of water.  You’re a legend mate!

Just got back from an epic weekend to Great Barrier with a top bunch of guys from NZKFG.

Most of the crew ended up catching ‘PB’ Snapper and Kingfish. 5 Snapper over the magic 20lb were landed as well as a few Kings up to 20kg . Most fish were released with enough onboard to feed everyone.

The smiles say it all  cheers!

Back from a cheeky two-dayer to the Mokes and you wouldn’t believe it, we picked over yet another 24lb snapper! Add this to the two 40lb Kingys just to test the guys arm muscles out a bit – that’s right, suns out – guns out!

One Kingy and Snapper were both ‘Personal Best’ fish, so congrats to the guys and a great weekend was had by all.

NZKFG had their mothership trip to Little Barrier, on board the Bounty Hunter.  A great bunch of guys, with PB’s, great banter, blue skies and big fish!

Left Friday evening and spent a night in Port Fitzroy catching live bait to give the kingfish a scare ???? Next day we headed around the east coast of Great Barrier and out to Arid Island to drag our livies’ over a few deep water pins – and bam ????it was on with multiple hook ups and they where good fish!  Biggest tipping the scales at 16kg!

Congrats Rose on you ‘PB’ kingfish! But it didn’t end there, 5 of the crew got personal best kingfish. We were all buggered from the battles so decided to unwind with a little snapper fishing. First bait to hit the bottom came up with a 10lb snapper and it didn’t end from there – the snapper just poured into the boat, so much for our unwind! Snapper came over the gunnel one after the other. We caught our limit in under an hour so an early night into a bay for the night job done.

Got up Sunday morn for a snapper fish and hello snapper we’re on again with Peter Manukau catching a 20lb and everyone else nailing nice snapper. Again limit in 1 hour so we headed in early with fish bins full and muscles sore – everyone was happy and it had been an awesome weekend ????
