NZ fishing charters in the Hauraki Gulf region

Mokohinau Islands

One of the most talked about fishing destinations in the Hauraki Gulf.

The Mokohinau Islands (Moks) are a small groups of islands that lie 21km northwest of Great Barrier Island.

Large snapper and kingfish are the regular target, however, hapuka, tuna and marlin visit the area seasonally.

Great Barrier Island

There’s no fishing like Great Barrier fishing.

This stunning location lies in the outer Hauraki Gulf, 100 kilometres north-east of central Auckland. With an area of 285 square kilometres it is the sixth-largest island of New Zealand and includes many small islands and sheltered bays.

It’s rich with a variety of species including large snapper, kingfish and tarakihi.

Little Barrier Island

One of the top fishing destinations in the Hauraki Gulf and certainly worth the journey.

Little Barrier is a DOC administered island and New Zealand’s first nature reserve. It’s steep, densely vegetated and home to a range of endangered species and waters rich with a variety of fish.

Popular fish in this area are large snapper, kingfish, tarakihi, blue cod, hapuka…the list goes on.

Kawau Island

No shortage of snapper and a great place to crack for kingies.

Crystal clear waters and a paradise for fishing and sailing. One of the largest islands in the Hauraki Gulf, it can be found 45km north of Auckland.

Popular fish in this area are large snapper and  kingfish.

During November and December, Aaron will generally suggest inner gulf fishing around Kawau.

OVERNIGHTER CATERING
Our catering is provided locally.
During the peak months of December/January, we require at least one weeks notice for all catering.

$60 per person / per day

Complimentary tea and coffee on board, all other drinks are your responsibility.

A-grade pilchards and squid – $250 per day

ROD HIRE
Kingfish Rods (includes tackle) $50 each per day
Snapper Rods (includes tackle) $30 each per day

Must be booked advance of trip

 


BOOKING INFORMATION

Breakfast on day one for all charters is your care.

All prices are GST inclusive.

To secure your charter a deposit of $500 is required as soon as we confirm your booking dates.

The balance is payable before the ship leaves the jetty at the commencement of the charter, either by direct credit to our bank account or by cash or cheque on the day.

Deposits are refunded in full if you cancel in writing (email is OK) no less than 21 days before the charter date.

All paid fees are refunded if the skipper cancels because of bad weather conditions.

Please note, lost property that is not claimed within 6 months will become the property of Bounty Hunter Charters
