Epic Weekend

Just got back from an epic weekend to Great Barrier with a top bunch of guys from NZKFG.

Most of the crew ended up catching ‘PB’ Snapper and Kingfish. 5 Snapper over the magic 20lb were landed as well as a few Kings up to 20kg . Most fish were released with enough onboard to feed everyone.

The smiles say it all  cheers!

Opps I did it again…

Back from a cheeky two-dayer to the Mokes and you wouldn’t believe it, we picked over yet another 24lb snapper! Add this to the two 40lb Kingys just to test the guys arm muscles out a bit – that’s right, suns out – guns out!

One Kingy and Snapper were both ‘Personal Best’ fish, so congrats to the guys and a great weekend was had by all.

We love it!

Mothership Trip

NZKFG had their mothership trip to Little Barrier, on board the Bounty Hunter.  A great bunch of guys, with PB’s, great banter, blue skies and big fish!

Big Snapper, bust off's and more…

Here is the full video of our Mothership trip to Little Barrier Island aboard Bounty Hunter Charters. Enjoy

A two day’er at Great Barrier

Left Friday evening and spent a night in Port Fitzroy catching live bait to give the kingfish a scare 🎣 Next day we headed around the east coast of Great Barrier and out to Arid Island to drag our livies’ over a few deep water pins – and bam 💥it was on with multiple hook ups and they where good fish!  Biggest tipping the scales at 16kg!

Congrats Rose on you ‘PB’ kingfish! But it didn’t end there, 5 of the crew got personal best kingfish. We were all buggered from the battles so decided to unwind with a little snapper fishing. First bait to hit the bottom came up with a 10lb snapper and it didn’t end from there – the snapper just poured into the boat, so much for our unwind! Snapper came over the gunnel one after the other. We caught our limit in under an hour so an early night into a bay for the night job done.

Got up Sunday morn for a snapper fish and hello snapper we’re on again with Peter Manukau catching a 20lb and everyone else nailing nice snapper. Again limit in 1 hour so we headed in early with fish bins full and muscles sore – everyone was happy and it had been an awesome weekend 🐟

Four Seasons in One Day

Besides the up and down weather, we’ve been getting out quite a bit with great results.   Fishing the shallows at Little Barrier with limit bags of Snapper, ranging mostly in size from 340mm to 450mm – nice eating sizes.

We’ve also been doing a few Kingfish trips to the ‘Mokes’. Excellent results with getting everyone on board a Kingfish each to take home as well as a few releases for the future. Great Trevally and Teraki at Little Barrier way also.

Get your asses out of the city and get into the fish while they’re running!

Cheers, Aaron (Skipper)

First charters – total success!

Our first charters were a total success with limit bags all round and some big snapper among them. Prize for the month, a 23 lb snapper and lil’ Ollie, a 7 year old catching his first ever kingfish and biggest fish of his life so far.

We’ve mostly fished south of Kawau Island and are generally home early with limit bags. We have done a couple of overnighters to Great Barrier and the fishing is going off out there –  we couldn’t miss with some of my old haunts producing double figure snapper etc .

It certainly is a magic time of the year to go out and have a ball so get in fast as dates are filling fast.

All the best and tight lines  – cheers, Aaron ‘Bounty Hunter Charters’
